We are all guilty of wasting the time we have to some extent or another, be it some obstacle or sheer lethargy. To that end, we have keepers of time that a few of us hold dear, but most do not understand and instead take for granted. The timepiece is man’s most important invention, and a tool that has withstood its passing, and will continue to do so.
Here we look at a few of our favourite pieces waiting to be worn.
CHOPARD MILLE MIGLIA GTS GRIGIO SPECIALE
Erotic novel and cringe-worthy movie aside, this is how 50 Shades of Grey should be presented – a contemporary timepiece akin to a noir work of art with slight inflections of ‘rouge’. Housed in a 43mm titanium case is Chopard’s 01.08-C calibre self-winding mechanical movement. One of the key features of the Special is the power reserve meter, which is instantly recognisable as being similar to an automobile fuel gauge (power reserve of 60 hours). All of this is secured to your wrist with a black Cordura strap.

BREITLING PREMIER B01 CHRONOGRAPH 42
Breitling’s Premier collection is known for its elegant design and robust performance, with this particular watch donning an eye-catching white dial set into its polished 42mm stainless case is a personal favourite of ours with its black crocodile leather strap. It draws the eye with its startling white dial, whose features contrast ever so well to both stand out and complement. It’s powered by the self-winding Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, which comes with a 5-year warranty to keep you ticking for a good long while.

SEVENFRIDAY INDUSTRIAL ESSENCE
Instantly recognisable, unique in every sense of the word, with a range of bold colours to choose from. Go for a slightly more subtle look with the green, while retaining a playful persona. The look is completed with its iconic exposed skeleton movement. Quite sizeable at 47mm, the watch itself doesn’t have anything ground-breaking other than its sheer uniqueness when it comes to SevenFriday’s design language. A stainless steel case, leather strap and 30 metre resistance around the automatic movement is a given however.

CASIO EDIFICE METAL CHRONOGRAPH
The ECB-800 series of EDIFICE watches have now been updated with true chronograph capabilities, based on feedback from an unnamed racing team…while retaining the slew of connectivity and advanced stopwatch features hey have come to be known for. In addition to phone linking, it comes with a 1/1000-second stopwatch with memory for 200 lap time records, and a target time indicator showing the relative difference between a lap time and a target time.

AVI-8 is a lesser known watchmaker that takes their design cues from older generation war planes; the Lancaster Bomber collection embodies that ethos by elegantly incorporating said cues into this Quartz-powered timepiece. A double-riveted leather strap is weathered for a timeless aviation feel, while stark, large visible hour index references add legibility, crispness and a sort of military sensibility to this potentially collectible piece from AVI-8.
